General
What does Madhura Kala Studio do?
Madhura Kala Studio is the studio of artist Madhura Parekh. She designs and hand-paints murals, and makes sculpture and commissioned paintings, for restaurants, cafés, offices, homes and public spaces.
How much does a wall mural cost?
It depends mostly on the size of the wall and how detailed the design is. The condition of the wall, whether it's indoors or outdoors, height and access, and your deadline also matter. Send the wall size and a few photos through the enquiry form, and after a short call or site visit you'll get a written quote.
How long does it take to paint a mural?
A small feature wall takes two or three days. A large or very detailed mural can take a few weeks. Before that, designing and approving the sketch usually takes about a week. Your quote will include a timeline.
Will I see the design before you paint?
Yes. You get sketches and colour options first. Painting only starts once you've approved the final design.
What paints do you use, and how long does a mural last?
Indoor murals are painted with water-based, low-VOC acrylic. Outdoor murals get exterior-grade paint and a UV-protective coat. An indoor mural on a well-prepared wall lasts many years. Outdoors, it depends on how much sun and rain the wall gets and what state it's in.
Do you take projects outside your city?
Yes, anywhere in India. For projects outside the city, travel and stay are listed as a separate line in the quote.
Can artists, interior designers and architects collaborate with the studio?
Yes. Madhura works with other artists, interior designers, architects, event planners and brands on murals and installations. Get in touch through the Collaborate page.
How do I book a project?
Fill in the contact form with the type of space, your city, the wall size and when you'd like it done. We'll get back to you to talk it through, visit if needed, and send a quote.
Murals for restaurants & cafés
Can you paint the mural without closing my restaurant?
Yes. Most restaurant and café murals are painted outside service hours, on early mornings, late nights or your weekly off day. The work area is closed off while painting and cleaned at the end of each session.
Will the mural survive cooking fumes and cleaning?
Yes. Murals in food spaces are painted with durable acrylic or exterior-grade paint and sealed with a washable coat, so your staff can wipe them down with the rest of the room.
Can the mural include our logo or brand colours?
Yes. The design can use your logo, your brand colours, drawings of dishes from the menu or the story behind the food. We keep the logo small enough that the wall still looks like a painting and not an advertisement.
Office murals & workplace art
Can the office mural be painted over a weekend?
Usually, yes. A smaller wall can often be finished in one or two weekends. Bigger murals are split into phases so the office stays usable the whole time.
Do you work with our interior designer?
Yes. We agree colours, lighting, furniture placement and dates with your designer or architect, so the mural fits the rest of the fit-out.
Is the paint safe for an occupied office?
Yes. Indoor murals are painted with water-based, low-VOC acrylic, which has very little smell. We air the space out and clean up after each session.
Home wall murals
How long does a home mural take?
Most single-wall home murals take two to seven working days, depending on size, detail and drying time. Your quote will include a timeline.
Can a mural be painted on an outdoor or balcony wall?
Yes. Outdoor walls get exterior-grade paint and a UV-protective coat. We check for damp and cracks first, because the state of the wall decides how long an outdoor mural lasts.
What if I'm renting?
Ask your landlord first. If painting the wall isn't possible, a large canvas or painted panel works well, and you can take it with you when you move.
Sculpture & 3D art
What materials do you sculpt in?
It depends on where the piece will go and your budget. Tell us about the project and we'll suggest materials that suit indoor or outdoor display, the weight the floor or wall can take, and how much upkeep you want.
Can you make a relief or 3D wall instead of a painted mural?
Yes. Relief work can be left as it is or combined with paint, and it gives a wall texture you can see and touch.

Can you paint a canvas to match my interiors?
Yes. Send photos of the room, the wall size and the colours you have, and we'll design the painting around them.
